About Us

Marine Debris, Miyako Island

October 3, 2010 was a perfect day for a beach cleanup and research. The only thing we did not expect was the temperature, which was 30 degrees centigrade. The size of this small beach is about 100 meters long and 10 meters wide.
We were happy to see the large gregarious (colonies) of seaside morning glories in full bloom, however, once we looked closer to the roots and stool of these plants, they were thickly covered with plastic pieces and other debris. Our next challenge is to find cleanup methods in plant areas without hurting them.
